Executive Leadership

Richard Ross
Co-Founder & Co-Chairmen of the Board
Since 2006, Richard has focused on driving sustainable growth and profitability at Echelon—all while remaining true to his values. His strategy has been successful; by 2022, Echelon was processing over $7 billion, up from $1 billion in just 10 years. The company continues to achieve sustainable growth with no PE or VC backing, increasing revenue, broadening its reach, and boasting industry-low attrition rates.
In 2023, Richard became Co-Chairman of the Board and appointed a seasoned executive team to support Echelon’s global expansion.
Prior to Echelon, Richard and Brett founded Merchant Money Transfer, LLC, an independent sales organization that prioritized the fair treatment of sales and merchant partners and provided best-in-class service. The company's portfolio grew to include many of the highest-processing and most profitable merchants in the New York tri-state area.
Richard went on to drive sales and strategy at leading payments companies before aligning with EVO Merchant Services and starting, along with Brett, EVO Platinum Services Group. As EVO grew to become one of the largest privately held companies in the merchant services field, EVO Platinum Services Group became colloquially known as EPSG. EPSG was rebranded as Echelon Payment Solutions Group, reflecting its status as a trusted leader in the payments industry.

Brett Sturm
Co-Founder & Co-Chairmen of the Board
Echelon is the culmination of Brett's efforts and dedication.
Together with his business partner Richard Ross, Brett has steered Echelon from a start-up to a robust $40 million dollar company. Today, Echelon processes over $7 billion annually and boasts industry-low attrition rates. This steady growth is a testament to Brett's strategic leadership and commitment to sustainable business practices.
In 2023, Brett joined Richard as Co-Chairman of the Board, appointing a team of exceptional payment leaders to serve as the company's executives.
After graduating from the University at Albany, Brett began his career at MSI, a start-up independent sales organization, spearheading the company's transition from paper to electronic transactions.
In 1994, Brett and Richard founded their first company, Merchant Money Transfer, LLC. When the company's portfolio grew to include many of the highest-processing and most profitable merchants in the New York tri-state area, Brett and Richard negotiated its sale to Heartland Payment Systems.
Following the IPO of Heartland Payments Systems in 2006, Brett joined Richard at EVO Merchant Services and together formed EVO Platinum Services Group, which became colloquially known as EPSG. Unwavering in their commitment to trust and integrity and driving long-term value, EPSG quickly became the last stop in payments for sales partners and merchants. EPSG rebranded as Echelon in 2024, to better position the company for sustainable growth.
